Now combined with St Martin Coney Street, the parish has for many centuries been at the heart of York's commercial and retail life. Few now live here, but it is thronged throughout the year by people from all over the world shopping, visiting the restaurants, bars and cinema, or simply enjoying the atmosphere and heritage.

The shop displays in particular do much to enliven the experience of visitors. In September 2016 a special Shopkeepers' Harvest service at the church celebrated those who work in the retails trade and what they bring to the city. The Reverend David Simpson put together a special video for the occasion which deserves wider viewing.

We also host services for charities in the City of York. York in Recovery hold services to remember those who have died through addiction illnesses and to give thanks for all who are in recovery. The services are supported by organisations, families and friends. A carol service is also held. We welcome enquiries from groups across the city to hold a service for special remembrances and thanksgivings.
